Celebrating 90 years, Lugazi Sugar had stood as a symbol of resilience — enduring Uganda’s history through colonialism, independence, war, and peace. By 2015, however, its oncedominant position faced new challenges, as modern competitors filled the shelves and younger audiences shifted toward contemporary brands.
To restore its pride and relevance, we embarked on a brand redesign rooted in authenticity. Through immersive fieldwork and creative collaboration, we modernized Lugazi Sugar’s packaging while preserving the integrity of its heritage. Our Senior Art Director spent seven days at the plantation, handillustrating the new pack design — a heartfelt visual story that captured the spirit, craft, and legacy of one of Uganda’s oldest brands.
